Convective boiling heat transfer of carbon dioxide in horizontal small-diameter tubes.

Author(s) : YUN R., CHOI C., KIM Y.

Summary

Evaporation heat transfer coefficients of carbon dioxide in small-diameter tubes with inner diameters of 2.0 mm and 0.98 mm are measured and analysed as a function of operating parameters (mass fluxes, heat fluxes, evaporation temperature). Flow patterns of CO2 are indirectly analysed using Hibiki and Mishima's map. The measured evaporation heat transfer coefficient is in the range of 10 000 to 20 000 W/m2K. Average heat transfer coefficients are significantly affected by the existence of liquid film dryout. The occurrence and effects of dryout are studied.
