Conversion of a single floor in a high-rise office building into an animal research facility.

Author(s) : ELLIS R. T.

Summary

The paper describes the design of an animal research facility on the tenth floor of an occupied 15-story university office/classroom building. The design of the HVAC system presented numerous unique challenges, primarily due to the configuration of the building, which had not been constructed to house an animal facility, and to constraints imposed by the owner and architect, including American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care accreditation requirements.
