Summary

A SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED FOR COOLING DRIED MILK BY AIR, PRECOOLED BY WATER COOLERS, DURING CONVEYING FROM THE DRIER TO THE PACKAGING STATION. THE TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SYSTEM AND DESIGN OF THE AIR COOLER ARE DISCUSSED. CALCULATIONS CHARACTERISING THE COOLING PROCESS DURING PNEUMATIC TRANSPORT ARE ALSO PRESENTED. MILK HYGROSCOPICITY DID NOT AFFECT THE CONDITIONS OF PNEUMATIC TRANSPORT, AS THE TIME OF INTERACTION BETWEEN PRODUCT AND AIR WAS SHORT. EVEN ON LONGER CONTACT OF THE PRODUCT WITH THE AIR, THE EQUILIBRIUM MOISTURE CONTENT OF THE DRIED MILK DID NOT EXCEED 4%.
