Summary

MAGNESIUM IN FRUIT WAS NOT CORRELATED WITH BITTER PIT AS IT DOES NOT VARY GREATLY BETWEEN ORCHARDS. BITTER PIT WAS CORRELATED INVERSELY WITH CALCIUM CONTENT IN FRUIT ; THE HIGHEST CORRELATION OF BITTER PIT WAS WITH THE QUANTITY < POTASSIUM IN FRUIT X MAGNESIUM IN LEAVES X CALCIUM IN FRUIT > ; HOWEVER THE CORRELATION COEFFICIENT WAS ONLY 0.68, INDICATING THAT OTHER FACTORS MUST BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT TO OBTAIN AN ACCEPTABLE FORECAST OF BITTER PIT INCIDENCE.
