Cryogenic gases: distribution from cylinder to satellite plants.

Author(s) : BOSE P. K., SARKAR S. C.

Summary

With ever increasing cost of petroleum products (diesel, petrol) the transport cost of cryogenic gases by road has now become prohibitive and there are limitations on long distance pipeline supply. This is why a new concept of satellite plant use is suggested in the paper e.g.: a. Small-scale users using the membrane system with back up liquid oxygen-liquid nitrogen supply. b. Medium scale users with PSA (pressure-swing adsorption) system and back up LO/LN supply. c. Medium scale users with gas liquid plant system and back up liquid oxygen-liquid nitrogen supply. All the above systems can be installed on rental basis (i.e., facility charge plus price of gas) from the Industrial Gas Company and through an Internet satellite installations monitored from a centralized production and distribution facility.
