The production of high purity nitrogen, high purity oxygen and high purity argon as by-product in normal air separation plants.

Author(s) : SPOERI R. W.

Summary

The objective of the paper is to give a survey of the possibilities and difficulties encountered when implementing separation processes for high purity products in air separation plants. Integration of these processes in large plants offers the possibility to minimize operating personnel and if necessary to vary the ratio between high purity and normal production within a certain range. However, the maximum purity achievable is limited by the fact that the main process may not be disturbed, and that the costs for the main products may not raise due to the addition of the high purity processes. The additional measuring, monitoring and controlling equipment is not to be underestimated.
