Summary

Although slow cooling methods using programmable freezers have long been widely used for cryopreservation, the convenience of vitrification has recently been gaining in popularity. There have been no reports implying an increasse in fetal anomalies or effects on newborns caused by cryopreservation. But the efficacy and safety of freezing unfertilized human oocytes are not satisfactory, and great efforts are being devoted to finding more effective methods to cryopreserve them.
