Cryopreservation of living tissue.

Number: pap. 028

Author(s) : SPÖRL G., REINSCH H., KLINGNER E., et al.

Summary

A novel cryopreservation equipment for tissue cryopreservation is presented. The tools described here are essential for the performance of well-functioning cryoprotocols for soft and hard tissue pieces which exceed 1 cm2 in area. These tools organise the heat transfer between the freezing vessels (special dishes) and the tissue during cryopreservation process, storage and thawing. The equipment was tested under thermal and biological aspects. The correct operation is demonstrated by successful preservation of tissue engineered mucosa and bone.
