Cryopump for the ITER project.
Cryopompe pour le projet ITER.
Author(s) : BOISSIN J. C., MURDOCH D. K., MACK A.
Summary
The specific features of cryopumping led to its selection for the highly demanding exhaust pumping of the International Tokamak Experimental Reactor (ITER) project. 16 cylindrical cryopumps of 1-m inlet diameter will be installed and will have to be regenerated almost every 15 minutes, thereby necessitating fast regenerating cryosurfaces. After a review of the main ITER pumping requirements, the article presents the concept and technologies developed, along with the current development status.
