Type of article: Article

Summary

THE AUTHOR SUMMARISES THE MECHANISM OF TISSUE DESTRUCTION BY REFRIGERATION (CRYOLESION STAGES, CRYONECROSIS, HEALING) AND STRESSES THE PRIMORDIAL INTEREST OF CONTROLLING CRYOLESIONS: WITH THE NAKED EYE, BY THERMOCOUPLES, BY LE PIVERT'S IMPEDANCEMETER (SEE Bull. IIR, ABSTR. N79-2447). HE REPORTS THE TECHNIQUE USED IN DOG AND CAT, WITH CRYOPROBES COOLED BY LIQUID NITROGEN. A TABLE GIVES THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE 165 CASES TREATED, IN FOUR GROUPS OF TUMOURS: OROPHARYNGAL, ANOGENITAL, MAMMARY AND CUTANEOUS. THE PERCENTAGE OF THE BEST RESULTS OBTAINED (90 TO 95%) CORRESPONDS TO THE CRYOSURGERY OF CIRCUMANALOMA AND PERIANAL FISTULAS. G.G.
