Current methods of evacuation and drying of the refrigerating circuit.

Summary
The author examines the different options, in light of the coming ban on CFCs and HCFCs, fluids which were used in these operations. He seeks to answer the questions: how large does a vacuum pump have to be, and how long does it take to completely dry a circuit? His recommendations: 1) systems can be reliably dried only with two-step pumps and a final pressure of 50 microns; 2) drying should never be done quickly; 3) the system must be completely air tight before evacuation begins.
