Summary

Introduced in 1982, the VRV system rapidly became widespread. About 35,000 such systems are currently in use. In 1989, variable-frequency systems became available and enabled increased flexibility. In 1991, energy recovery systems and custom-made distribution of cooling became available. In 1995, variable-speed scroll systems were launched. The Daikin systems discussed here are not manufactured in Japan: they are made in Ostend, Belgium.
