Summary

The use of secondary refrigerants requires analysis of the defrosting system. Various methods could be used: 1) regular external defrosting (air or electrical heaters); 2) internal defrosting by warming up the brine; using the heat of the system or an external heat source (electrical or other). The different ways are being checked and defrosting of the display cases in selling areas (high and low temperature) analysed, with regard to how the products are affected, changes in air temperature and possibly product temperature during defrosting. An energy comparison will be made on frozen food cases. Finally, some words are said about possible differences in frosting and defrosting when coils are supplied by slurries.
