Demands on and development of small ammonia plants for direct and indirect cooling.

Summary

The paper describes the development course of 5-40 kilowatt ammonia plants for production of flake ice, including solutions of the different problems in operation, oil return and security. The plant capacity conditions are illustrated and compared with corresponding plants with R22. The paper also describes a demonstration project with an 8-kilowatt ammonia shop plant for cooling of cold-storage rooms.
