Design and performance of an absorption heat transformer test plant.

Summary

An absorption heat transformer test plant with a new working pair trifluoroethanol-pyrrolidone (TFE-Pyr) has been designed and built. Constructions of the absorber, generator, condenser and evaporator are falling film components, they are made of spot-welded blown-up steel plates, while a brazed compact heat exchanger is used as the solution heat exchanger in the test plant. A computer simulation model has been developed for predicting the performance of the test plant and finding the optimum design parameters. The experiment on the performance of the test plant has been carried out, which shows that the working pair TFE-Pyr is a promising working pair for absorption heat transformers; the constructions of the components are suitable and the computer model is a useful tool for an optimum design.
