Design criteria for CO2-compressors for vapour compression cycles.

Author(s) : SUESS J., KRUSE H.

Summary

Due to the fluid properties of CO2, the pressure ratio of the process is rather low while the pressure difference is high. From experimental and theoretical investigation it was found that at these conditions a high volumetric and energetic efficiency of the compressor may be achieved if its design is appropriate. The paper focuses on various types of compressors, and proposes a promising concept for a CO2 compressor from the energetic as well as economic point of view.
