Summary
This paper presents the principle of a cooling tower system. Based on the analysis of ways and concepts in engineering, it considers that the system of open cooling towers plus plate heat exchangers is a more economical and practical mode in the winter. It discusses issues such as: feasibility of adopting higher supply water temperature for inner zone in the winter; performance curve of cooling tower in the winter; selection of switching point between cooling by towers and refrigerators; and selection of pumps and refrigerants. A design example is provided.
