Design of a high temperature absorption/compression heat pump with organic fluids and plate heat exchangers.

Author(s) : MESTRA A., VALLÈS M., BOUROUIS M., et al.

Summary

Systems using vapour compression cycles with a solution circuit using an ammonia/water working pair have great potential, but compressor lubricant oil, present in the solution, makes the absorption process less efficient. To overcome this drawback, the authors suggest using organic fluids whose absorbent also acts as the compressor lubricant. The paper discusses how to select the most suitable organic mixture.
