THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES CONDITIONS ON A TYPICAL SMALL FISHING VESSEL HAVING A SINGLE REFRIGERATED HOLD FOR FREEZING AND COLD STORAGE SIMULTANEOUSLY. EQUIPMENT, FREEZING AND STORAGE WERE SURVEYED. MEASUREMENTS ON THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM LED TO RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS. AIR TEMPERATURE AND FLOW DATA WERE ANALYSED AND A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FORMULATED WHICH COULD BE USED TO PREDICT THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER REFRIGERATION EQUIPMENT. C.R.F.
