Design of thermal insulation for an LNG tanker.

Author(s) : LI Z. C., SUN H., XU L., et al.

Summary

The LNG tanker is a very important transport means in LNG transmission thanks to its flexibility. In the paper, the principle of high-vacuum-multilayer thermal insulation is included and compared with vacuum-powder insulation and high-vacuum insulation. It is very suitable for tanker for its characteristics: low thermal conductivity and small volume. The design and calculation of the thermal structure for a 40 m3 LNG tank are presented. The non-loss storage time for the tank was calculated.
