Number: pap. n. 0008

Author(s) : VESTERGAARD N., KRISTOFERSSON J., SKOVRUP M., et al.

Summary

This paper is focusing on the design requirements for ammonia hotgas defrost systems, and are based on results from a research project regarding energy saving potential in Ammonia refrigeration system focusing on hot gas defrost and minimum condensing pressure. Detailed laboratory test on ammonia defrost system has been conducted as a part of the Danish ELFORSK project 347-030. The design requirements on the two most common defrost methods for ammonia systems (Pressure Control and Liquid Drain method), are described with focus on obtaining the high efficiency, short defrost time and minimum energy loss.
