DETERMINATION OF THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF PURE IRON AT LOW TEMPERATURES.

DETERMINATION DE LA CONDUCTIVITE THERMIQUE DU FER PUR AUX BASSES TEMPERATURES.

Author(s) : DELISEE M., LHASSANI L.

Summary

TO PREDICT HEAT TRANSFER BETWEEN SOLIDS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO KNOW THE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY. AT ORDINARY TEMPERATURES THIS QUANTITY MAY BE CONSIDERED AS CONSTANT, BUT AT LOW TEMPERATURES ITS VARIATION IS VERY LARGE. THE PAPER PRESENTS A METHOD AND AN APPARATUS TO DETERMINE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY AT LOW TEMPERATURES. THE RESULTS OBTAINED WITH ARMCO IRON, HAVE SHOWN THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO MEASURE CONDUCTIVITY OF METALS OR ALLOYS FROM 4 TO 300 K WITH GOOD ACCURACY. IT IS ALSO HOPED THAT SUCH MEASUREMENTS WILL BE MADE ON PLASTIC MATERIAL.
