Summary
As urban development and development projects recovered during the early 1980s, a number of heat service projects, mainly for cooling, were implemented in succession. As of the end of March 1994, 71 heat service utilities are legally authorised to serve 115 areas. Among them, 60 companies are specialised in district heat supply and 11 operators are combined with electric utilities, gas utilities, or real estate companies. Between April 1993 and March 1994 (the 1993 fiscal year), these companies sold a total of 5.25 petajoules for cooling.
