Development and tests of a reversible loop heat pipe.

Summary

A topical problem is creating a device for thermal control over technical objects, which under operating conditions act in turn as a heat sink or a heat source. Such a device is due to combine high heat transfer characteristics and the ability to operate efficiently under changes of the heat transfer direction. An ordinary loop heat pipe is a thermal diode. The paper considers a device, which possesses the ability of reversing a heat flow. The results of developing and investigating a new design of a reversible loop heat pipe, which ensures the transfer of a heat flow up to 1 kW in both the heat transfer directions, are presented.
