Development of a new standard for the measurement of energy consumption of chilled vending machines.

Number: pap. 123

Author(s) : SALTMARSH M., PRICE L.

Summary

A standard for the measurement of energy consumed by chilled food and drink vending machines has been developed by a working group of CENELEC TC 59. The standard is applicable to both closed front can and bottle machines and glass fronted food and drink machines. Unlike domestic refrigerators all these machines are refilled only once or twice a week and they can be fitted with energy saving devices to reduce energy consumption when consumers are not present. The standard takes into account the energy consumption in the various modes of operation of the machines and provides a method of calculating the weekly energy consumption with appropriate weighting of the several modes.
