Type of article: Article

Summary

In the paper, the authors discuss progress in research on metal matrix composite (MMC) as a high-strength, reliable light-weight material and the results of the development of fibre-reinforced aluminium alloy (FR-Al) for the moving parts. Also discussed: the mechanical and physical properties of FR-Al, the merits of using FR-Al in rotary compressors as the roller and the vane, and tribological and reliability evaluation of FR-Al applied in a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant and polyolester lubricant atmosphere.
