Summary
For thermal storage systems, a high thermal conductivity of phase change material (PCM) is required to complement the crystallization phenomena during the phase change period of the PCM. In this experiment, the thermal conductivity of PCM for thermal storage systems applications with the working temperature of 71°C is enhanced by using multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) as a thermal diffusion promoter. When the MWCNTs are added to the PCM, the solution dispersion stability of the nano composites is ensured by using an ultrasonic disrupter. The thermal conductivity of nano PCMs (PCM+MWCNT) is measured by the transient hot-wire method. In this paper, it is expected that the thermal conductivity of the PCM is enhanced by adding the MWCNT at liquid state as well as solid state and the effect of Poly Vinyl Pyrrolidone(PVP) as a dispersion stabilizer on the thermal conductivity of nano PCMs. In conclusion, the positive effect in application for thermal storage system is expected from the enhancement of thermal conductivity by adding the MWCNT to the PCM.
