Development of the CO2 refrigerated showcase.

Number: pap. n. 669

Author(s) : ISHIKAWA T., TASHIRO Y.

Summary

We developed a refrigerated showcase using CO2 as a refrigerant, instead of R404A.The high-efficiency inverter compressor used in the heat pump water heater “EcoCute” was applied for improving the system performance. Two cooling fans could supply the required air flow in a duct blocked by the compressor in order to improve the performance of the air curtain. In addition, reduction of pipe pitches and number of pipes at the windward of the evaporator were done to get uniform frost formation. As a result, the energy consumption decreases by 42% compared to the conventional system (R404A refrigerant, GWP=3940).
