Summary
An account is given of the various methods for controlled atmosphere (CA) storage of hard fruits: conventional CA storage, scrubbed CA storage and ULO (ultra low oxygen) storage. The various types of scrubbers used are CO2 scrubbers, lime scrubbers, potash scrubbers, active carbon scrubbers and membrane scrubbers and also variable pressure absorption (pressure swing absorbers, and vacuum swing absorbers).
