Summary

THE EXTRAPOLATION OF THE DEPENDENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON THE REGION OF LOW TEMPERATURES (ABOUT 77 K) PERMITS VERY HIGH CRITICAL CURRENT DENSITIES IN THESE SYSTEMS (ABOUT 1 MILLION A/CM2 ), WHICH SUPPORT THE PRELIMINARY ESTIMATES OF CRITICAL CURRENT DENSITIES, FROM MAGNETIC DATA. IT IS ALSO SHOWN THAT IN HTS SINGLE CRYSTALS THE EXTERNAL MAGNETIC FIELD SUPPRESSES THE CRITICAL CURRENTS TO A LESS EXTENT THAN IN POLYCRYSTALS. FROM MEASUREMENTS OF THE CRITICAL CURRENT AT VARIOUS TEMPERATURES AND MAGNETIC FIELD STRENGTHS THE SECOND CRITICAL FIELD IS ESTIMATED IN THE COMPOUNDS STUDIED, WHOSE ORDER OF MAGNITUDE COINCIDES WITH THE FIELD TYPICAL OF A WIDE GROUP OF HTS COMPOUNDS.
