Summary
Vehicles some four to eight times as efficient as those of today, while equal or superior to them in all other respects, will help solve problems of air quality, oil use and obsolete industrial structures, as well as larger energy (especially electricity) supply issues. Changes in transportation technology have the potential to become a major source of worldwide environmental and economic improvement. Revolutionary developments are already taking place in the main automaking countries. Such technological changes also present an opportunity to leapfrog development in other countries.
