BECAUSE HCFCS CONTAIN HYDROGEN THEY ARE REMOVED FROM THE TROPOSPHERE BY REACTION WITH HYDROXYL RADICALS FOLLOWED BY CONVERSION TO WATER, CARBON DIOXIDE AND WATER-SOLUBLE COMPONENTS. THUS HCFCS HAVE VERY LITTLE POTENTIAL TO AFFECT STRATOSPHERIC OZONE, WHILE HFCS, CONTAINING NO CHLORINE, HAVE NONE AT ALL. D.W.H.
