Summary

SUMMARY OF THE RESULTS OF A TEST ON THE PRACTICAL PERFORMANCES OF A DOMESTIC WATER HEATER USING A HEAT PUMP RECOVERING HEAT FROM THE EXHAUST AIR OF DWELLINGS. THE TEMPERATURE RISE TIME AND THE ENERGETIC EFFICIENCIES OF FOUR TYPES OF THERMODYNAMIC WATER HEATERS TESTED IN LABORATORY ARE GIVEN. THE CONSUMPTION (ENERGY AND COST) OF 29 FIELD TESTED THERMODYNAMIC WATER HEATERS IS GIVEN AS A FUNCTION OF THE RATE OF USAGE (RATIO OF AVERAGE DAILY WATER DRAW OFF TO THE HEATER CAPACITY). THE RESULTS ARE COMPAREDTO THOSE OF AN ELECTRIC WATER HEATER WITH OFF-PEAK STORAGE. J.R.
