DOUBLE EFFECT, TRIPLE EFFECT AND QUADRUPLE EFFECT ABSORPTION MACHINES.

Author(s) : ALEFELD G.

Summary

THE AUTHOR SHOWED HOW DOUBLE EFFECT ABSORPTION SYSTEMS CAN BE BUILT NOT ONLY WITH H2 O/LIBR BUT ALSO WITH NH3/H2 O OR ORGANIC FLUID PAIRS, SO THAT THE SYSTEMS HAVE PRESSURES COMPARABLE TO THOSE OF SINGLE EFFECT SYSTEMS. WITH NH3/H2 O OR ORGANIC FLUID PAIRS AT SIMILAR VAPOUR PRESSURES, IT IS POSSIBLE TO BUILD BOTH TRIPLE AND QUADRUPLE EFFECT SYSTEMS. THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF EXCHANGE COMPONENTS WAS FOUND TO INCREASE ONLY IN 4:6:7:8 RATIOS OF SIMPLE EFFECT TO DOUBLE, TRIPLE AND QUADRUPLE EFFECTS.
