Theoretical performance and operating characteristics of double-effect and triple-effect absorption refrigerating machines using various working fluids.

Author(s) : IYOKI S., YAMAOKA Y., UEMURA T.

Summary

With the aim of the performance advanced further than that of double-effect absorption refrigerating machine (ARM), the triple-effect ARM was studied by simulation analysis in terms of theoretical performance and operating characteristics on the cases using four circulation methods of absorbent solution, i.e., series flow, parallel flow, series and parallel flow, and reversed series flow, and was compared with other various types of ARMs such as single-stage and double-effect. The triple-effect ARM is high in COP but narrow in the operating range, the use of water-lithium bromide-lithium nitrate system gave the best COP. The use of reversed series flow was the best among the four circulation methods of absorption solution.
