Type of article: Article

Summary

THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF A SINGLESPHERICAL VAPOUR BUBBLE CONTAINED IN A LIQUID OF INFINITE EXTENT AND SUBJECTED TO A STEP INCREASE IN THE OUTSIDE PRESSURE HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED ANALYTICALLY. NONEQUILIBRIUM MASS TRANSFER DUE TO CONDENSATION AND/OR EVAPORATION IS INCLUDEDIN THE MODEL. IN ADDITION TO THE MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS OF THE BASIC EQUATIONS, THE SYSTEM OF EQUATIONS HAS ALSO BEEN SOLVED NUMERICALLY BY A FINITE-DIFFERENCE TECHNIQUE ; AND THE SOLUTIONS OBTAINED BY THE 2 METHODS HAVE BEEN COMPARED.
