ECONOMICS OF MULTI-STAGE FREEZE CONCENTRATION PROCESSES.

Author(s) : PELT W. H. J. M. van

Summary

ENERGY CONSUMPTION FOR FREEZE CONCENTRATION MAY BE CONSIDERABLY REDUCED WITH MULTISTAGE PROCESSES AND BY USING THE MELTING HEAT OF ICE CRYSTALS. ANOTHER ADVANTAGE IS A CONSIDERABLE DECREASE IN INVESTMENT COSTS. FOR THESE REASONS, COMBINING THIS PROCESS WITH THE USE OF WATER REMOVAL PLANT WITHOUT LOSS OF SOLIDS, THE OVERALL COST OF FREEZE CONCENTRATION BECOMES COMPETITIVE WITH THAT OF DEHYDRATION BY EVAPORATION.
