EFFECT OF FLOOR LEVEL ON HEAT TRANSFER BELOW COLD STORES.

Summary

EFFECT OF FLOOR LEVEL ON HEAT TRANSFER IN THE SOIL BELOW COLD STORES WAS STUDIED. THREE CASES WERE CONSIDERED: FLOOR ABOVE, BELOW OR ON SOIL SURFACE. ISOTHERMAL LINES IN THE SOIL BELOW AND ADJACENT TO THE COLD STORE WERE NUMERICALLY PREDICTED. THE TIME REQUIRED FOR THE SOIL TO ACHIEVE 273 K (0 DEG C) AND THE RATE OF HEAT ADDITION TO PREVENT FLOOR HEAVING WERE INVESTIGATED.
