Summary

THE EFFECTS OF PRESSURE IN A FREEZE-DRYING PROCESS WERE DISCUSSED BY SEVERAL AUTHORS BUT OPINIONS DIFFER ON THE EFFECTIVE RESULT IN PRIMARY DRYING AND ITS MECHANISMS. THE AUTHORS PRESENT SOME RESULTS OF A THEORETICAL INVESTIGATION SHOWING THAT AN INCREASE IN PRESSURE MAY EXTEND OR REDUCE THE DRYING TIME.
