MANY INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT FOR LEGIONELLA BACTERIA IN LARGE INSTALLATIONS, BUT LITTLE INFORMATION ON THEM IN ONE AND TWO-FAMILY HOUSING IS AVAILABLE. NOTES INCREASING DEBATE AS TO WHETHER THE STORAGE WATER HEATERS CAN ENCOURAGE THE OCCURRENCE OF LEGIONELLA. DESCRIBES AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS BY THE WORKING GROUP OF APPLIED MICROBIOLOGY AND HYGIENE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SAARLAND WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF BUDERUS AND NORSK HYDRO. STATES THAT 13 STORAGE WATER HEATERS WERE INVESTIGATED IN 5 WATER CATCHMENT AREAS. DESCRIBES THE INSTALLATION DATA AND THE MICROBIOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION PROCEDURES. GIVES RESULTS. (INT. BUILD. SERV.
