Elaboration of optimal conditions for micropropagation and cryopreservation of garlic (Allium sativum L.).
Author(s) : MAKOWSKA Z., KOTLINSKA T.
Summary
Results of investigation deal with the micropropagation, regeneration and cryopreservation of garlic (Allium sativum L.) germplasm from gene bank collection are presented. The optimal conditions for micropropagation and regeneration, selection of plant explants, and media were determined. The results showed, that the best kind of explant giving the highest rate of regeneration were shoot tips isolated from garlic bulbils. The best sizes of explants during cryopreservation procedure were meristems about 1 mm of diameter and 3 mm in length and medium MS mentioned above.
