Studies on the postharvest physiology of garlic bulbs (Allium sativum L.) in Turkey.

Summary

Studies were conducted to investigate the effect of different curing treatments on storage quality of garlic bulbs (88-89 and 89-90 seasons). Changes in chemical composition of garlic bulbs were also studied during storage. Garlic bulbs after different curing treament were stored at 8 deg C for 2.5 months, or 4 deg C for 2.5 months, or 2 deg C for 2.5 months, with 70-75% relative humidity at the air flow rate 175 m3/h.ton. Results are given. The design of an ideal garlic store for curing and subsequent storage is discussed.
