Energy analysis of an energy recovery system from a nearly zero energy building (nZEB).

Summary

One of the alternatives for reducing the energy demand is the use of energy recovery systems within the ventilation building service. During the summer of 2019 the Air Handling Unit (AHU) from the LUCIA building has been monitored using different Data Loggers for measuring temperature and humidity which allow to monitor the evolution of the air conditions inside the AHU. These measures allow to determine, based on the characteristics of the different air inputs, coming from free cooling, from energy recovery with or without adiabatic cooling or from geothermal heat exchanger, the most adequate operational conditions. This work provides the measured experimental results, the study of the actual performance of the existing ventilation service and the analysis of the best alternatives to be used in the air conditioning service of the LUCIA building during summertime.
