PHARMACEUTICAL CLEAN ROOMS PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPLEMEN TING SUBSTANTIAL ENERGY SAVING DESIGNS. BY DEFINITION, THESE ARE ROOMS GOVERNED BY FDA REGULATIONS WHERE PARENTERALS ARE HANDLED. BOTH FDA REQUIREMENTS AND THE INDUSTRY'S OWN STANDARDS MUST BE COMPLIEDWITH IN THE MANUFACTURING OF PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS. AN OPTIMUM DESIGN WILL REDUCE HEATING AND REFRIGERATION LOAD, PROVIDE OPERATING SAVINGS, AND PREVENT CROSS CONTAMINATION BETWEEN THE SUPPLY AND EXHAUS RE THE MAJOR FACTORS THAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO ENERGY CONSERVATION ARE AIR RECIRCULATION, SPOT VENTILATION AND HEAT RECOVERY.
