Summary
This technical paper reports on the use of the US energy simulation programme, EnergyPlus, to evaluate the potential energy savings of several low-energy cooling systems. Results from validation studies are presented with the conclusion that the programme provides sufficient accuracy for most energy simulation applications. The systems evaluated in the study include chilled ceilings, natural ventilation, displacement ventilation, night cooling, and a conventional variable air volume system.
