Energy efficiency comparisons for heat pumps working with CO2 and R407C.

Author(s) : KERHERVE B., CLODIC D.

Summary

A CO2 water-to-water heat pump was designed, realized and installed in a test bench. The evaporator is a plate heat exchanger available on the market. The gas cooler, cooled by water, is a micro-channel heat exchanger specially designed by the laboratory. The compressor, available on the market, was tested for different pressure ratios and evaporating temperatures: volumetric, isentropic and global efficiency regressions were developed based on those tests. The results of the tests were used to validate a detailed simulation programme.
