Summary

More than half of the total energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina is used for heating, cooling, ventilating and refrigerating. These are leading the peak demand of electricity, for reducing these loads, it can lower demand for annual power generation and peak capacity in two ways: the first is using advanced technology or instruments and another is using new energy sources. This study focuses on the new technology and chiller systems used for heating and cooling to improve the energy efficiency in large commercial and residential buildings. A 82 kW heating-cooling chiller system, that uses R-407C as refrigerant, was constructed in the department building. This system is installed in order to replace the City heating system and to reduce the cost of electrical consumption. The calculation of the energy performance is the purpose of this study, measurement of the COP and Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER), calculation the saving costs and analysis the electricity consumption before/after installs the chiller system compare with electric system.
