Summary

THE INTERMITTENT HEATING OF BUILDINGS IS OF SOME INTEREST IN SAVING ENERGY. THE VALUE OF ACTUALLY OBTAINABLE SAVINGS DEPENDS ON VARIOUS ELEMENTS: THERMAL CAPACITY OF THE BUILDING, THERMAL CAPACITY AND THERMAL INSULATION CHARACTERISTICS OF EXTERIOR WALLS, WORKING CONDITIONS OF THE HEATING SYSTEM, OUTSIDE WEATHER CONDITIONS. IN THIS ARTICLE THE A. PROPOSES A SIMPLIFIED COMPUTATION METHOD WHICH, IN MANY CASES OF PRACTICAL INTEREST, ALLOWS QUANTITATIVE ESTIMATES OF ENERGY SAVINGS CONNECTED WITH SUCH HEATING CONDITIONS TO BE OBTAINED. THE RESULTS OF CALCULATIONS MADE FOR ROOMS OF DIFFERENT THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS ARE COMPARED WITH THOSE OBTAINED BY MEANS OF A NUMERICAL METHOD. THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SIMPLIFIED METHOD AND THE NUMERICAL ONE IS GOOD IN ALL CASES CONSIDERED.
