Summary

Concluding report of a broad investigation recently carried out by REHVA (Representatives of European Heating and Ventilating Associations) on energy uses and energy policy concerning HVAC installations in twelve European countries. The following aspects are analysed: classification of energy uses, role of energy savings, regulations related to energy uses, incentives for promoting energy savings, procedures for calculating thermal loads in building, design criteria for HVAC installations, extent of the application of district heating, cogenerative systems and techniques for utilizing renewable energy sources.
