ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY: RESPONDING TO A NEW AGENDA.

Summary

LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE, SICK BUILDING SYDROME, CO2 AND CFC EMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY BEING TREATED AS SEPARATE, WHEN IN FACT THEY SHARE THE COMMON UNDERLYING THEME OF THE NEED TO SAFEGUARD THEENVIRONMENT WHETHER AT THE MICRO LEVEL WITHIN INDIVIDUAL SPACES AND BUILDINGS, THE MESO LEVEL OUTSIDE INDIVIDUAL BUILDINGS OR BETWEEN GROUPS OF THEM AND THE MACRO LEVEL, REGIONALLY, NATIONALLY OR GLOBALLY. THESE DEVELOPMENTS MEAN THAT SIMPLY DEFINING COMFORT IN TERMS OF PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CRITERIA JUST WILL NOT DO ANYMORE ; THE EFFECTS ON THE EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT BY EG WASTE EMISSIONS, BUILDING MATERIALS ETC WILL HAVE TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT.
